Facing the Armies of Mara
Mara is a personification, as a mythical being, of the obstacles to wholesomeness, happiness, and awakening. The suttas tell of Mara visiting the Buddha on the eve of his awakening and being defeated by his concentration and clarity. Can we face these same obstacles with wisdom, compassion, and sometimes even humor?
Sitting with others in retreat is a powerful base from which to look at Mara mindfully and see clearly the path to awakening. Come and see for yourself.
Retreats are suitable for beginning as well and continuing meditation students. Vegetarian options for all meals. Most rooms have a sink, and will be shared with one other retreatant.
You will need to bring linens for a twin bed and a towel. Remember to bring your sitting mat and cushion if you use them. Wear comfortable, casual clothing.
