Embodied Awareness
A retreat is a time to both “take a break” from your normal daily activities and also be able to take a closer look at your life and practice. Please join us for the Fall retreat at Columbiere Retreat Center in Clarkston.
The freedom and peace offered in meditation is not realized by the mind. It is an embodied experience when we move beyond the mind’s belief about the body.
The body is an important locus of our experience. Sometimes we lose our contact with it,
especially when we are operating from our beliefs and mind. A lot of stress originates in loss of connection with the body. We need to be in contact, but also, we need to allow the release of our conceptual idea of the body– to experience the freedom of the body as one expression of our true nature, but not “who we are”. It can be experienced without boundaries in connection with the open awareness of all things.
This retreat will work with the body both as a locus of experience and as an expression of the interconnectedness of all experience.
The retreat will be led by Lou Weir, a resident teacher at Insight Meditation Ann Arbor. Lou has been teaching Vipassana meditation for over 15 years and is also a trained teacher in the Diamond Approach tradition.
Please note: this retreat is not suitable for beginners. There will be no introductory meditation instruction.
