Insight Meditation Classes


meditation cartoonA meditation class is a wonderful support for your practice, and a place to meet like minded friends.

DONATION BASIS NOTE: In the Insight tradition, the teachings are offered freely, as it is understood that their value is priceless. Our teachers volunteer their time and energy to make these teachings available.
At the same time, support is needed for those teachings to continue, as there are costs that must be met every month.
An opportunity to leave a donation will be offered at each class. There is also a link to Paypal on the home page that can be designated as a class donation.
We can only offer the teaching, and trust that the receivers will respond in kind. Thank you for your support.




Class Location


Classes are taught at the Insight Meditation Ann Arbor Meeting Room on Miller Ave. on the west side of Ann Arbor. Ample parking and accessible. Meeting room information and directions.

  • NEW! Intro to Insight Meditation Practices
    A 3 week introductory class covering insight meditation practices: formal meditation, mindfulness practices, and cultivation practices. For those new to meditation or looking for a refresher on what insight practice is and how it works. For those who find insight to be a practice they wish to continue with, a second class will be offered to develop and support meditation in your life.

    This class is designed to be followed by the Intro to Understanding the Path of Insight Meditation class offered below.

  • NEW! Understanding the Path of Insight Meditation
    A 5 week introductory class covering basic concepts and understanding the common experiences of meditators: looking at relationship with the mind, difficult emotions, how reactive patterns are formed and triggered, how preferences for certain things and avoidance of others catches us in a cycle of suffering.

  • LEVEL: Need Intro to Meditation Practices above or other Insight Meditation instructional experience.

  • 5 Tuesdays, Oct 24, 31 Nov 7, 14 and 21

    • Continuing class: Monday Morning Dhamma
      The teachings from the Buddha promise, over and over, that it is possible to awaken to freedom, right here and now, in the very midst of the challenges of human existence. How do we do this?
      In these teachings, there are many tools offered. In this class series we will explore, both in meditation practice and in daily-life practice, ways to use these tools and realize this freedom.
      Some previous meditation experience is required. Participants will be expected to commit to daily meditation practice during the class series.

      A 6 week class covering insight meditation instructions, mindfulness, working with difficult emotions and mental processes, establishing a practice. For those new to meditation or looking for a refresher on the fundamentals of insight practice.
